Into the Heart of the Amazon—Rainforest Trails, River Journeys, and Indigenous Wisdom
Venture deep into the Amazon Jungle, a place of astonishing biodiversity and home to communities who have lived in harmony with the forest for centuries. This unforgettable journey begins and ends in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, perched high in the Andean foothills at 9,325 feet. From there, we descend into the lush lowlands, traveling by bus to Tena, taking in spectacular mountain views along the way.
Our Amazon adventure begins with a scenic drive from Quito into the upper Amazon Basin, descending from the Andes through ever-changing landscapes to reach Suchipakari Lodge along the Arujano River. With a local guide, you’ll explore rainforest trails, learn about medicinal plants and traditional uses from the nearby community, and experience the jungle up close — from towering ceibo trees to a relaxing river tubing adventure to round out the day.
And while you don’t have to be a birdwatcher to start, the sight of colorful toucans, rangers, or even a macaw soaring above the canopy might just convert you.

All participants are guaranteed their own bed on our trips.
A Single Supplement (SS) means you will have your own room with your own bed, and no other participants will share that room with you. Single supplements are limited, offered at an additional cost, and will appear as a booking option at the time of registration if still available.
A Double Accommodation means you will share a room with another participant. You will still have your own bed. Shared beds can be requested but cannot always be accommodated depending upon the property.
Bathrooms: Bathroom arrangements vary depending on the trip and lodging. A single supplement guarantees your own sleeping space but may still include a shared bathroom. Double accommodations typically share a bathroom with a roommate and sometimes additional participants, depending on the property. Private or ensuite bathrooms will be noted in the trip details when available.
In Quito and Papallacta, you’ll dine at your hotels, enjoying a mix of Ecuadorian cuisine and international favorites. While in the Amazon, all meals are included at Suchipakari Lodge, where dishes are prepared with local products and inspired by regional traditions. You’ll also have special culinary experiences along the way, including a visit to the Archidona Municipal Gastronomic Market.
