There’s something magical about landing in Ireland. The moment you step outside, a soft breeze carries the scent of rain and wildflowers, rolling green hills stretch to the horizon, and music seems to drift from every pub. Our recent Adventures in Good Company women’s hiking trip through Ireland captured all of that and more. An adventurous group of eight women enjoyed a week filled with laughter, breathtaking landscapes, and stories shared along winding trails.

A Warm Irish Welcome
Our journey began at Shannon Airport, where travelers gathered as strangers and quickly became companions. The adventure kicked off at Caherconnell Fort, stepping through history before our first glimpse of the Cliffs of Moher, a dramatic, windswept welcome to the Emerald Isle. That evening in County Clare, as live Irish music filled the air, the first sparks of connection came to life.

Hiking Ancient Landscapes
From there, we wandered into the otherworldly Burren, where wildflowers push through ancient limestone and every step seems to whisper a story. A feast at Bunratty Castle transported us back in time, surrounded by music, candlelight, and centuries-old stone walls.
The hike along the edge of the Cliffs of Moher was unforgettable: the trail unfurling along the coast, the Atlantic crashing below, sea spray in the air. A visit to the Burren Perfumery offered a fragrant, sensory end to the day.

Island Magic and Connemara Wilds
A ferry ride to Inis Mór, one of the Aran Islands, slowed the pace to island time. Whether exploring on foot or by bike, the island revealed its rugged beauty: stone forts, curious cattle, and endless cliffs. From there, Connemara greeted us with moody skies, mirrored lakes, and sweeping hills.
The climb up Diamond Hill was challenging, yet rewarding with its panoramic views. Our visit to Kylemore Abbey offered a quiet, reflective pause. Many ended the evening the Irish way, tapping their feet to traditional music after dinner.

Irish History, Beauty, and Lasting Memories
We watched border collies at a sheepdog demonstration, then followed the historic Famine Walk along Killary Fjord, where beauty and history intertwine. A fjord cruise brought a moment of peace and a few exciting dolphin sightings.
In Cong, we explored mossy abbey ruins and lunched in the shadow of Ashford Castle. At Clonmacnoise, centuries-old stone crosses and crumbling cathedrals stood as a quiet testament to Ireland’s layered past.
Our journey ended in Dublin, where cobblestone streets, warm toasts, and heartfelt farewells wrapped the adventure in a perfect bow.

Why We Love Hiking in Ireland
What makes hiking in Ireland with AGC so special isn’t just the scenery—though the landscapes are spectacular. It’s the shared stories, the warmth of Irish hospitality, the rhythm of footsteps on ancient trails, and the bonds forged between travelers.
