December 28, 2008-January 3, 2009: Howling with Wolves, Running with Dogs

Start the New Year with an active and fun-filled week of immersion in the Minnesota Northwoods and two of its most fascinating inhabitants: timber wolves and sled dogs! We spend the first three days cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and learning all about timber wolves from the experts at the International Wolf Center - we even learn how to howl! February 21 - March 2, 2009: Exploring Panama

March 14 - 18, 2009: Dogsledding in the Northwoods

Few mountain ranges are more dramatic than the Grand Tetons: soaring alpine peaks that rise 7,000 feet above the floor of Jackson Valley, clear lakes, numerous waterfalls and diverse flora and fauna. On this week long trip we’ll spend the first half hiking and floating on the more populated east side of Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks while staying in a lodge. On this hiking trip at the height of the fall colors, we sample different North Shore accommodations as we explore various sections of the Superior Hiking Trail. The Adirondack State Park in northern New York is larger than Yellowstone and Yosemite combined. In addition to hiking and canoeing, we'll take time to visit the outstanding Adirondack Museum and browse some of the many interesting shops. September 28 - October 4, 2008: Sea Kayaking the Low Country

The coastal counties of South Carolina's Low Country are a sea kayaker's delight, offering both saltwater kayaking to barrier islands and freshwater kayaking up creeks and rivers. October 5 - 12, 2008: Backpacking the Appalachian Trail Section by Section

We continue our section hiking of the Appalachian Trail this year, right through Shenandoah National Park during fall foliage season. Hiking 51 miles in 6 days, we'll pass peaks and waterfalls as we traverse from Swift Run Gap to Thornton Gap. Backpacking experience suggested. $995 (deduct $50 if you register by 6/5) M+

October 11 - 26, 2008: Hiking in Bhutan

How can you not want to visit a country where the King talks about the gross domestic happiness? Bhutan is known for stunning Himalayan mountains and its devoutly Buddhist welcoming population. October 16 - 19, 2008: Harper's Ferry Holiday

At the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, Harpers Ferry is an outdoorswoman’s delight. The C& O Towpath provides excellent bike riding; the Shenandoah is a perfect introduction to river paddling; and the world-renowned Appalachian Trail will delight both experienced and novice hikers. October 25 - November 2, 2008: Exploring Hawaii's Big Island

Did you know that 11 of the world's 13 climatic zones occur on the Big Island? We'll aim to see as many as possible as we hike, snorkel, and sea kayak our way around the island. November 14 - 17, 2008: Hiking Bryce and Zion National Parks

Sometimes you just want to fit in as much hiking in a short period as you possibly can, and that is what we've planned for this four-day getaway. We'll spend three nights in Zion with a day trip over to Bryce for one its premiere hikes.
