February 4 -19 or 4 -20: Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro
Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, has long lured travelers looking for a challenging but non-technical ascent to the rooftop of the world. This year we are ffering two options: the Machame Route, which is beautiful and suitable for women without previous mountain experience; and the more remote and very challenging Western Breach route. Regardless of which we choose, after our trek we will relax as we go on a five day safari, visiting Lake Manyara, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. Excellent physical condition is essential. $3600 for the Machame Route, $3900 for the Western Breach (deduct $100 if you register by 9/30) Maximum group size is 8 in each group
July 2 - 9: Bulgaria's Mountains and Monasteries
Bulgaria, almost forgotten behind the Iron Curtain, is one of Europes best kept secrets. Richly endowed with a unique natural and cultural heritage, it offers some of the best hiking to be found anywhere. During this one week trip we will be introduced to the delights and challenge of the Rila and Pirin Mountains, Bulgarias highest and wildest ranges. September 2- 9: Tour du Mont Blanc
Mt Blanc straddles France, Switzerland and Italy and hiking around this massif is undeniably one of the classic hikes in Europe! Although we won't make it quite all the way around, our hike takes in the most beautiful parts of the Mt Blanc region. Spectacular peaks and panoramic views, fascinating alpine history and ecology, small and welcoming alpine towns have been attracting intrepid hikers for over 200 years. September 23- October 13: Trekking in Nepal
On this three-week trek we combine strenuous and invigorating hiking in one of the most beautiful places in the world with a chance to learn about Sherpa culture from a Sherpani (woman of Sherpa ethnicity) perspective. September 23 - 30: Backpacking through Two Billion Years of Geologic History
The Grand Canyon is truly one of the wonders of the world, and its exploration is not to be taken lightly. Once away from the crowded rim, we travel primitive paths, gather water from infrequent springs, sleep under the stars, and experience our own insignificance.
