Top of Page

Who can resist these gentle giants in their winter home of Florida's spring-fed rivers?? On this trip we experience the manatees up close and personal in their natural habitat, viewing them through crystal clear waters as we sit above and among them in our kayaks. This is an ideal trip both for women who know they love paddling and for those who want to give kayaking a try: you'll learn basic kayak strokes on calm waters and by the end of the weekend you will be a competent and confident paddler. Even if you discover you don't like kayaking (which we doubt), the thrill of these wondrous creatures sticking their snouts out of the water beside your kayak, as if to be petted, is simply an amazing experience. $875

From ancient cypress trees hung with moss to sleepy alligators and 400 species of animals, the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is a unique and pristine freshwater area that is one of the most visually stunning places you will ever visit. March 2 - March 6, 2011: Sea Kayaking Cumberland Island

Cumberland Island was established as a national seashore in 1973 to preserve the island's scenic, natural and historic qualities. During our trip we'll explore a mixture of island environments including a saltwater marsh, a maritime forest, and beaches along the Atlantic coast of the island. And if we're lucky, we'll get a glimpse of the Island's feral horses, left over from earlier historic times. $765

From old American Indian paths to more recent mining roads, we'll hike trails that lead to the remnants of the park's colorful human history, astounding geologic formations, and flora and fauna that demonstrate the diverse adaptations that allow life to flourish here. Accompanied by a local geologist, we will learn about this amazing park as we hike by day and sit around the campfire at night. $865

Spring Adventures 2011

April 29 - May 2, 2011: Chesapeake Bay Kayaking

Our trip is designed to give you a solid grounding in the basics of sea kayaking, and by the end you will be a confident and competent paddler. We will not, however, be stuck in an instructional grind. Our lessons and practice occur during the course of exploring diverse ecosystems and intermingle with savoring great meals, relaxing in unique hotels, visiting the island of Assateague, and wandering the interesting and very different towns of Berlin and Ocean City. Whether you want to give sea kayaking a try or know you already love it, this long weekend getaway is for you. $1050
